Godiya Women Education and Sustainable Development Initiative (GoWESDI) was established in the year 2024 to confront the existential imbalance endured by most women and girls marked by illiteracy, limited opportunities, violence and lack of rights awareness and culminating in oppression, economic inferiority and substandard existence. Driven by the urgent need to close the widening systemic gaps affecting women and girls, GoWESDI identifies education, the awareness and protection of human rights and the amplified contribution of women and girls efforts to Nigeria's sustainable development as foundational solutions and necessary building blocks to addressing the imbalances in society.
Motivated by a commitment to social justice and human rights, GoWESDI’s founders acknowledge the pressing necessity to confront stereotypes, systemic barriers and disparities encountered by women and girls in Nigeria by promoting women and girls’ education and socio-political inclusion as necessary pillars to close the gaps and enhance the foundations for empowerment, and independence.
GoWESDI's founding philosophy is anchored on the conviction that the empowerment of women and girls in education, human rights awareness and socio-political inclusion is paramount to the realisation of the advancement of social justice, sustainable development, equal opportunities for women and girls to contribute, and assume leadership roles for the benefit of society.
